From well depth to a finished quote

A distributor's dealers were sizing submersible pumps with a printed catalogue, a spreadsheet and a phone call. We built the workspace that does it in one pass: the hydraulic calculation, the pump that actually meets the duty point, the cable, the accessories and the offer the dealer hands over, with a calculation you can still stand behind months later.

One pass, from the job to the offer

The workspace sits between a distributor and its dealer network. A dealer enters what the job gives them: the well depth, the flow the customer needs, the working pressure and the pipe run. The engine works forward from there, through friction loss over the run, the pumps whose published curves meet the duty point, the cable cross-section the motor needs, the accessories, and finally the offer itself.

The other half of the work sits in the back office. Price lists are versioned and activated rather than edited in place, bulk changes are previewed before they apply and can be rolled back afterwards, and supplier prices stay in the currency they were quoted in until a published central-bank rate converts them, with an approval step before a rate move reaches a customer-facing price. The same codebase runs either as a managed deployment or as a self-contained box on the distributor's own network.

THE CHALLENGE

The quote lived in three places

Sizing a submersible pump, pricing it and writing the offer were three separate jobs done in three separate places.

A spreadsheet, a catalogue and a phone call

The engineering calculation lived in a spreadsheet, the pump data lived in a printed catalogue, and the price came from a call to the office. None of the three checked either of the others.

The calculation was the bottleneck

Friction loss over a real pipe run, the duty point it implies and the cable a motor needs are not counter-top arithmetic. Getting them right took time the customer was standing through, and getting them wrong was expensive to discover on site.

Prices moved under the offer

Supplier prices in another currency, dealer-specific discounts and price lists that were edited in place meant an issued offer could not be reliably reconstructed once anything behind it had changed.

THE SOLUTION

A workspace that does the whole pass

The wizard runs in three steps: what the job gives you, what the installation needs, and the offer that comes out. Behind it sits the price side the office runs.

Sizing from the job, not the part number

The dealer enters well depth, the flow the customer needs, the working pressure and the pipe run. The engine computes friction loss across the run, turns it into a duty point, and returns a ranked list of the pumps whose digitised performance curves meet it.

The offer, made in the same sitting

Cable cross-section follows from motor power, installation depth and the starting method. Accessories are priced in the unit each one is sold in. The finished selection leaves as a spreadsheet or as a document in the dealer's own identity, with pump and motor as separate lines and a note that says so, because a pump price is not a group price.

Price lists that can be walked back

A price list is a version that gets activated. A bulk increase is previewed against the list in force before it applies, and the operation that applied it can be rolled back. Every change to a price leaves a journal entry.

Supplier prices stay in their own currency

Prices are held as the supplier quotes them and converted at the central bank's published rate, with a fallback for the days the feed cannot be reached. A rate move does not reach a customer-facing price until somebody approves it.

Why the number can be trusted

Four decisions about accuracy: measured inputs, a pinned reference case, no extrapolation beyond a published curve, and the units the field speaks.

Measured wall thickness, not the nominal class

Inner diameter drives friction loss steeply, so the engine reads wall thickness from the measured tables in the applicable European pressure-pipe standard. Deriving it from nominal pressure classes stays as a fallback for the sizes those tables do not cover.

Pinned to the customer's own reference case

A committed regression check reproduces the scenario the customer brought to the table and asserts that the engine still lands on the figure their own spreadsheet produced. If the calculation drifts, the check fails before anyone quotes from it.

It refuses to extrapolate

If the required flow sits past the last point on a pump's published curve, that pump is dropped and the curve is never extended. A pump that cannot do the job does not get ranked as though it might.

It reads the units the trade speaks

Inputs accept the colloquial Turkish shorthand used in the field alongside metric and imperial units, and normalise them with a confidence level, instead of demanding tidy numbers in tidy units.
